General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I think you got lucky, normally when the drain plug is shot the motor needs replacing. All jokes aside how long has this dealer been a Harley dealer, and to say something like the plug needs replacing, just to change oil, BS for sure, I would for sure look for another dealer or just get a service manual and do as much work on the bike as you could, especially on general maintenance.
He's shoveling BS. They may charge you for all gaskets but the tech thats getting paid flate rate wont change out a gasket or seal that is good. It doesnt make sense or money for the tech, but you could get charged for them just the same.
Which Dealer is it?( Im thinking that where you are it must be Black Bear, or Sycamore) cant understand why you cant go to any dealership for this service. There cant be much difference between a US and UK spec machine,(apart from lights) especially for the 1000mile service.
I use Sycamore Harley at Uppingham and have had no problems, they even pick up and return the bike for services free of charge.
It is Black Bear that i am dealing with. They deall with AAFES (US military store) and is on only dealer in the UK i could pick my bike up from. They are also good with the VAT free paper work. I have a appointment on Tuesday for my 1000mile service and I want some good answers or i am taking all my buisness to Sycamore.
I have a good felling about Sycamore and if the weather holds out i am going on thier poker run on monday.
Good to know about black bear, can you let us know what happen's? I just ordered an 04 Night train through AAFES and was down to black bears looking around last weekend.
