Default Building a HOG from parts

I've been thinking about building a Harley and was wondering if buying various parts like frame, engine, etc from parts suppliers is smart as a way to learning bike building. All kit bikes are mainly choppers or customs. Can the parts be trusted or buyer beware?

Thanks

Jim S.

It depends what you get. Usually, you get what you pay for. IMO, to mod an existing bike will be a little cheaper, if you get a good deal on a used one. You'll have the option to get a part of your invested money back by selling the take offs.

frenchman is right, you would have to ask around but, some states are a tremendous pita to get paper work straight.Buy one you like the style of and go from there, since harley went to frame number's only in the early 70's all you have to keep is the neck with the number's on it.With a straight title they are way easier to sell when you want to change rides.
