I purchased a new 2004 Ultra Classic in March. I am noticing small specs of rust/oxidation/corrosion on some of the chrome, mirrors, light assemblies, wheel rims, and brake disc.
The bike is not exposed to the elements, has not been ridden in the rain, and I use H-D cleaning products.
The bike was purchased in Daytona from a dealer while I lived in Orlando. Most everyone I speak with says this should not be happening and I am very upset over it.
I also bought a 2004 Ultra Classic this summer. but I am not having any issues with rust or corrosion. Sounds to me like the bike may have been left out in some of the Florida rain. The air in Daytona is very humid and the close to the ocean. You should take it back to the dealer and have them look into this problem before it gets out of control. When you wash the bike, do you blow it dry or do you wipe it off and let it air dry? I use a leaf blower and blow all of the water I can off the bike before I wipe the extra off. It seems to help me and I have been doing it on my 1992 Softail and it has no rust either. Let us know how you make out at the dealer as I am curious about the 2004 as well.
Thanks,
