Default 2001 softail electrical issue

2001 Softail; My heritage aux lights work but when the bike is reeved up while driving I blow the fuse for the head lights and aux lights. I've checked all electrical in the front neck of the bike and its all good no shorts frayed wires etc. When aux lights are off... no issue. when running bike at lower speeds , lower RPM's no problem.

When running aux lights and down shifting to lower gear and getting RPM up, blown fuse headlight aux lights...

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Warning: I'm not HD mechanic. My best guess, based on what little I know about auto electronics is that you may have a bad voltage regulator. The alternator provides what looks like AC current but the voltage regulator makes the energy available as DC current - to oversimplify the process. The faster the alternator spins, the higher output is produced yet the voltage regulator helps keep the voltage at the right point.

So you may have a bad voltage regulator. If this were on a car, the voltage regulator is part of the alternator and the easy fix would be the replace the whole unit.

Now long term, I wonder if your alternator is being overheated (I mean: too much current drawn) which even if you replace the alternator, you may have the same problem again, later.

So, if your bike has lots of added accessories and you use most of them often and at the same time... it could be that you may be asking too much from your electrical system. Again, I don't know your bike (it's electrical output rating or how much you are drawing from it) but if what I say sounds reasonable (you use alot of electric power), you may want to re-assess what you need to use all at the same time and while you are replacing the alternator, see if there is a higher output unit that may better meet your needs. I don't know... I'm just saying.

A "real" mechanic would be able to help you make this assessment and tell you what repair/upgrade options you may have.
