I recently (Nov 10) traded in a 2008 HD Road King Classic for a 2010 Street Glide. The dealership removed from my Road King my Power Commander 3 (purchased in Jun 2010) and my Arlen Ness Big Sucker and installed both on the 2010 Street Glide. The Stret Glide also has Reinhardt True Duals exhaust. Here is the problem: The first time the problem appeared, the bike shut down and would not restart (after about 4-5 miles). After taking it back to the dealer, they found it has popped the ECM fuse. The bike spent a week in the shop but nothing could be found that caused the fuse to pop. So I was told it was a fluke and should be good to go. BUT after riding the bike for about 5 miles, it will shut down, I do not loose electrical, and the bike will restart, only to shut down again about a mile down the road. The bike will shut down upon taking off from a stop or while cruising at 55 (sometimes it will re-fire by itself if I am moving). The bike has spent now 2 weeks at the dealership and no one can tell me what the problem is. The dealership has suggested the problem is the Power Commander and wants to run the bike without it. Can anyone help ?
There is a good chance it was the way (poor connection) it was installed.
Yesterday a few things happened. One the Power Commander 3 was removed and the bike ran excellent, and after speaking to several different Technicians, it was discovered that even though a Power Commander 3 will connect to the 2010 Street Glide, the pin connections "mean" different things, causing the bike to go into "Protection" mode and shut down. A Power Commander 5 has been ordered and hopefully will correct the issue.
the PCIII is only good for bikes up to the 08 year. Stupid dealer should have called DynoJet before installing that device. Anything above 08 goes to the PCV model
look into adding the auto tune to the pcV.. add the simple switch and you can have two maps and switch between them when you want to. Simple switch nothing special add the wire and a togel switch (hide it behinf the heat deflectors under seat) good luck,,, have fun
Roger that ! Sometimes I think all they care about is selling a bike, not taking care of the customer. This was the third HD I had bought in just over 2 years. IT will be the last from this dealer !
WoW !
The service you received has been discracefull.
I have a local dealership that's exactly the same. It seems we are hearing more and more tales similar to this, the only tool you have to combat it is word of mouth and find a new dealership.
After removing the PC3 and installation of the PCV, the bike is unchanged. After about 20 miles, the bike will loose power, the RPM gauge jumps up and down, then the bike will refire and run fine for about 5 minutes, then repeat the process. Any ideas ? I am wondering if the ECM is not the root of the problem. The dealer tells me they drove it for over 60 miles with the PC3 removed and the bike ran fine. I want the PCV installed, any ideas why the bike seems to have issues on with a Power Commander installed ?
