misc. needs for 10k service
I'm trying to make a list of everything I need to do my own 10k service. I live about 40 miles from anything and there is nothing worse than having to stop what you're doing and drive 80 miles because you didn't realize you needed an o-ring on the oil pan drain plug. I've read the service manual cover everything in the 10k service. So far I've come up with this list... BTW... '08 RKC
7qts Amsoil (my choice for all 3 holes)
oil filter
grease for steering head bearings
oil for lubing clutch and brake cables
oil plug o-ring
gasket for clutch cover
threadlocker
Any specialty tools other than the one for checking the belt tightness? I've got a torque wrench. See anything obvious I've missed?

o-rings for primary and tranny drain plugs; spark plugs; primary inspection cover gasket. The air box has two breather hoses from the heads to the A/F- they will get brittle over time and need to be replaced. I always have a couple on hand.
Hopefully you have a parts guy at the dealer on the ball because not only did you miss quite a bit, you'll spend more money according to your list than you should (e.g. you stated you need an o-ring for the oil drain plug and a clutch cover gasket........a non knowing parts guy will simply hand you a 11105 o-ring and a 25416-99C derby cover gasket which is $8 for the derby gasket and $.95 for the o-ring. Provided you still have the stock derby cover, all you need is 17369-06 which is a gasket service kit for $4.95 which includes the 3 11105 o-rings for the tranny, oil and primary drain plugs and the o-ring for the stock derby cover). As well, you need the 11143 retaining ring for the clutch clevis pin and the 42860-06B pin and ring kit for the brake lever. Not busting on you, but you should do a lot more reading. Syn in the primary is overkill and you have a shitty compensator already and that will only worsen things. As well, use gear lube in the tranny. Don't forget that HD recommends complete brake fluid change every two years and you have ABS which means the DT as the dealer needs to be hooked up to verify the system after change and bleeding. There are several other things to consider. I just hope you have a decent parts guy at your dealer that won't steer you wrong. Good luck
