I need a little help, I am about to change all three of my oils, and I was looking in the Service manual, it recommends I change the primary seal every time you change the primary oil. I know your supposed to replace the drain plug o-ring every time, but do you have to replace the seal behind the primary cover? Does anyone know off the top of their head what that seal costs? I would also like to know what weight of gear oil most people put in their Transmission? And is there anything I should be aware of or avoid? Sorry I am new to this and the search engine doesn't produce the results i am looking for Anyways all input is appreciated.
I spent $85 total for doing the 1k service. 5 quarts SYN3, 1 oil filter, 3 o-rings, derby cover seal, and an oil filter adapter. I think the seal/gasket was like $5. It's different than the one you'll take off the bike (if the bike is new).
The seal you will need is the derby cover gasket, small "o" for the primary drain plug and two larger "O" rings for the tranny and for the oil drain plug. If you get the new designed funnel for the primary fill let us know how it works.

I replace the o-rings every time but usually reuse the derby cover gasket.
You should be able to reuse the derby cover gasket at least once. Inspect it to make sure it's in good condition just to be sure.
I bought a new gasket for mine when I changed, but I didn't use it. The old one looked just fine.
Probably a good idea to have on on hand just in case, so you don't have any down time.
If you have anything other that the OE derby cover the new gasket (the flat one that is black with the red seal on the back side) is a little over $8. I just got one today as well as the new O rings. And I'm running 75W-90 Mobil 1 in the tranny.
Whats the new funnel part number? I am also interested in the oil filter drain funnel that prevents oil from getting n the motor mount?
I am trying to stock up my tool box so working on my HD is easier and more efficient.
