debating on whether or not to put this puppy together on my own. I am pretty handy and have tackled other projects (i have power tools!), but since this is a pretty penny should i flub it up...wondering what you guys thought re: skill level required to assemble one? or tips?
thx!

What's to assemble? I pulled mine out of the box and it was already complete. I bought the mounting base, attached 4 bolts per the instructions, and that's it.

Been thinking about grabbing one for my bike but was wondering if the box comes pre-drilled or if you have to drill for the base

Mine was pre drilled for the bottom mount. I forgot to mention earlier, also pre drilled for the lid lock and back rest pad. Lock cylinder and back rest simply bolt on through the existing holes. I did however, pay the dealer to mount my luggage rack. I didn't want to risk damaging the lid.
