Ball Head??? You mean button head Cap screws? What are "standard" You mean Cap Screw? Depends on where. The clown here, (dealers son) what a Troll he is, says cap screws are better. Not, Torx Bit Caps are better.
Ball end Allens are nice if you can't get in to the bolt straight on but I have experienced a lot of slippage and stripping out of both the wrench and the head with ball and prefer the standard whenever possible.

Gottcha!
Because of deformation of cap screw and button head caps, with allen wrenchs when pressure is applied, is the main reason most manufactures go with a Torx head. Less slippage and stripping/deforming of the head when torquing of over tightening.

ball head are ok if they are a really good expensive set, snapon or equilivant ..cheaper(crapsman) will twist off or slip easy.. i like torx but you still need high quality bits so they dont twist or break
I have both - if large or been seated for a while, you need full purchase or they strip; but I love the convenience of the bald head, although occasionally the reflection in the chrome is just too much. Cheers, Kevin.
