Bought an '01WG bout a month ago and have a chirping sound coming from the left side of the engine as we ride, sounds like a 10lb.cricket as I'm rolling on the throttle.Checked the primary and its in proper adjustment.Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ya'll and be safe.
If you have a compression tester, run a compression comparison between front and rear cylinders. A leaking head gasket can make a chirping noise under acceleration.
Also could be coming from the drive belt. Do you know if the belt has been replaced recently?
Edited to add: Does the noise change according to engine temperature? Does it increase in frequency with engine RPM, or vehicle speed? Can you estimate the frequency of the noise?
Are your exhaust pipes sealed to the ports?
