Just went through this myself. Tried all sorts of things. It isn't a T-26 it is a T-27. Some say hammer a T-30 in but that didn't work for me. One came out with an extractor kit. Extractor wasn't working on the second one so I started drilling it out, kept getting larger with the bits till I got to a 1/4, which is the screw size. Head hadn't popped yet (afraid to go to deep?) and I tried extractor again and it worked.

Get a T-27 and make sure it is really stripped. I bought stainless allen heads from Home Depot so this won't happen again on my derby cover. I also put Anti-sieze on the threads, and will start doing so on a lot more threads on my bike.

this ^ Also, you might try adding some course lapping compound to the tool bit. It will help provide better grip.

This can be done with rounded out Phillips screws too.

I just had this problem over the weekend with one of the torx screws on the derby cover of my RKC. The left handed drill bit did the trick, but I did buy an easy out just in case it didn't grab. Figure it will be good to have in the future.

And as was mentioned earlier, switch to allen heads and save yourself the headache in the future.

We've been through this about a million times.

Get a drill bit that's about 1/2 the diameter of the Torx head, drill the head off, remove the cover, and grab what's left of the screw with a pair of vice grips and turn it out. Works every time.

Then when you put the new screws in, get the correct tool (T-27) and don't cheap out. Get the best quality T-27 tool you can find.

Had the same issues yesterday! The drills did not work for some reason - it would not take the head off. Then used a dremel to remove part ofthe head and then hit with a wood chisel and hammer. It spun and I was able to unscrew it! What a nightmare though. All is well now! Got the Mobil 75w90 in and its rolling good again!
