Being an 05, it's probably got all origional plumbing, going on that theory, there's a vent for the battery, but that's a small flexible hose that's strapped to the frame in this area, but doubt it's that, sounds like the trans vent tube, if you can take a look at it , you'll find it in the area for the shift arm on the side of the trans. It's a rubber type molded hose a couple of inches long and is just a vent line for the trans. If you are getting oil out of there, the only causes that usualy do this is overfull trans or moisture in the trans that comes out in the form of oily vapor after a long ride. If you use a lot of water washing your bike or often washings, this can contribute to this problem. Recheck your trans level and adjust if necessary.

There is one sure way to make sure it's not batt acid.. Just pour some baking soda on it.. If it fizzles, like Alka-Seltzer, it's from your batt.. I had this happen on my old Yamaha... But unsure of your plumbing..
