Just got an 07' FLHP, and it still has those goofy warning stickers on the top of the rear fender and top of the air cleaner. I want to take them off and someone suggested heating em' with a hairdryer, will I run the risk of damaging the chrome and paint?
The hair drier will not harm the paint or chrome, but a heated gun will; know the difference between the two. WD40 is widely available, so it's preferred by many. I use
, a commercial wax, grease and adhesive remover used by detailers and dealerships, then wax to protect the surface from UV's.
Whatever you do, DONT use a plastic putty as suggested; instead dab with the adhesive remover and gently wipe off with a "chemically" damp cheesecloth...
Old dry stickers may require extra heating before they'll peel off...
I have seen people before using 70% alcohol to get the sticky reside up that is left behind. That is up to you but I know 91% will start ruining clearcoat!
mineral spirits have been used in the painting industry for years. I peeled the sticker off my breather, dabbed a little mineral spirits on the adhesive left over waited a couple of minutes then wiped it right off.
