Good evening guys,
I went out to the shed earlier today to start up my 2012 street bob and it would not start, all the lights work. the bike cranks over for a split second and then cranks very sluggishly, could this be a battery issue? It started a couple days ago with absolutely no hesitation, the past few days have been obnoxiously cold, could that have anything to do with it?. Would anyone have any insight/suggestions on what i should do or where the issue could be?
Thanks a bunch for the quick response and not ridiculing my rookie mistake, i just went out and picked one up. I was afraid it might have been something more serious since the bike was started only a few days ago.

Use the tender from now on but get your battery load tested to see if it is still good. Damage may have already been done & it may need replacing.
Unless your going for a ride..Don't start it!It has to be up over idle to break even with the amount of power being used to run the ignition and lights. If the bike is stored , leave it on the tender and wait for spring. the warm-cold cycling of the oil also creates condensation in the oil . The water floats on the oil and rusts internal engine parts.Periodic starting really doesn't help. Pulling the battery and bringing it inside, away from freezing temps and maintaining the charge is best. My 2005 Flhtcui just got its first replacement battery. 7 years is pretty good for a motorcycle battery. The battery can have enough amperage to light the lights, but not enough to start the bike.

Excellent post, however motor oil is lighter than water. But you are right condensation in the motor does do a lot of damage.
