General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I am new to riding and bikes in general. I started with an '89 Sporty. It has been running great, but lately it stalls at random times....I could be cruising along the highway then it just cuts out. I managed to get it home, but only after having it stall numerous times...I coasted into my driveway.
It starts up pretty quick after it stalls. Typically, I will be cruising down the highway, then the motor will stall. After I coast it to the side, I can usually start it up within a few minutes and get a few miles out of it before it stalls again.
Not sure about the lights. When it stalls, it just flat out stalls. I will be cruising, then it will just stall without warning. So, I pull in the clutch and start it again as I am coasting, then within minutes it stalls again.
Big hitters on those...
1) Vacuum petcock failing - running out of fuel
2) ignition module overheating (especially if rotor cup has been disturbed and is contacting it)
i have the same problem on my 1995 flht,,it runs great then just cuts off,,, head lights and all other electracle still works, it has to sit for about 30/40 minutes it starts back up and runs for about another 40 to 50 miles,,,sometimes even further,,then shuts off again,,over and over again,,help,,,anyone suggest an idea for me
