I too learned this one the hard way. Have parts installed switched out on your new bike within the first 60 days and they fall under the 2 year warranty.
Purchase a new trinket to add to your bike after that 60 day window and those parts then fall under the 60 or 90 day warranty or some parts up to one year.
So it pays sometimes to have things done right away on the bike.
I guess I'm not surprised. Anything the shop installed when new I'd expect to keep the same warranty as the rest of the bike. There is apparently a 60 day window which actually seems pretty generous. So forgetting the bike warranty you have an HD part, installed by an HD dealer that has failed. One year parts warranty sounds about right. You are outside of that one year parts warranty I think? So no warranty. Sounds about right.
Personally, especially if it's close, I think the dealer should be trying to go to bat for you. Explain that you are close? Or say it has obviously been leaking for a few months? Or that they noticed it within warranty but couldn't get it done until it had fallen out of warranty?
Lastly, if it only lasted a year is this a reason to do research and find out if Harley clutch cables are crap and maybe you should be installing a different brand? Or is it too late for that?

Cable crap or 2 bit o-ring? Going to get interesting if they can't show me where and how old cable is leaking.

Very interesting reading these issues on warranty. I just purchased a Trike a few weeks ago. Talking with the parts manager and he said any thing I modify the Trike with Harley parts and installed by Harley is covered under my 7 year warranty, should I trust him? He has promoted to the Service manager. Maybe I need this in writing.
Dealers actually record all the mods they sell and install on new bikes. If the mods were done within 60 days of purchase, then they are included in the mfgrs 2 year warranty and any hd extended warranty purchased. This record is part of the bike and is available to any dealer. In my case, the clutch cable will never be covered even by my extended warranty even though it's an hd part.
When the son and I spent over $100k at our dealer in 4 yrs back in 07 thru 11 they treated us like kings and bent over backward to make us happy. The fixed everything and several things I didn't think they would.
Then when the GM died in late 11 and a new GM came in, it was like Fulk You...U never did nothing for ME... and everything changed,, new Wrenches,, new service Mgr,, new Sales Mgr, new parts guys and even new salesman for the most part..
I still visit that dealership, but I've changed to another one
WE have 5 HD dealerships within 60 miles and they are owned by only 3 different people.
IMO you have to weed out the bad ones and go with the one who treats you the best...
