Hello people quick question and I hope this is the right forum. I'm brand new to motorcycles and I was just wondering if a windshield is necessary when wearing a ff helmet. Got an 05 sporty that came with a detachable windshield and I got the dealer to give me a helmet which I opted for ff. I dont see the point of the windshield other than to stop debris/bugs from hiting your helmet and I don't like the way it looks but my wife is slightly paranoid and says I have to have the windshield on when I ride so I divorced her and am wondering if I should just sell the windshield. (joking about the divorce) thanks
Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of motorcycling.
I think a windshield is a personal preference thing. Ride without it for a while but don't sell it yet. You may change your mind.
I don't know what the bug situation is in AZ but here in IL it gets pretty bad. When I see all the guts splattered on my windshield I'm always happy it was there to help me out.
Mine is detachable also. I like it especially on long rides, I get tired of the wind trying to push me off the back of the bike. Also, like Firewoman, I appreciate the help with the flying nasties.
