Default Problem with ext forward controls

Hi folks, I need your help.

Im in the process of installing extended forward controls from Accutronix on my 05 Sportster Custom. Im currently struggling with removing the old brake rod. The problem is that I cant reach the T30 screw at the rear heimbolt but I also cant take of the exhaust pipes, as the screws wont move ( picture attached, I assume the owner before me scratched them over something and now they are almost welded together).
So I thought I might just remove the rod together with that joint, that transmits the force in that 90degree angle. There is a flat bolt (picture) holding that movable piece in place and it also moves a little but I cant get it out. I cant figure out by which mechanism this bolt is retained and if it is even possible to remove that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im out of ideas.

Many thanks
Alex
