Oh, yeah.

An informal version of the Lorem Ipsum Vintage Motorcycle Rally is happening in Viroqua this weekend.

I've been to several. Nice riding out that way and the American Legion in Viroqua is a good place to get a burger and a beer.......

Cool. Viroqua is a neat area. The Driftless Café is fantastic.

Fennimore, Boscobel, Tomah and Sparta have plenty of comfortable mom and pop and chain motels to rest your weary head after a day of exploring.
I neglected to add Viroqua and Westby to the lodging list.

Rode up to Minocqua last weekend. Lots of non-freeway rides up and back. Just beautiful.

Hyde's Mill

Potosi Brewery

Galena, IL

Kettle Moraine (North and South)

Wildcat Mountain (Hwy 33)

Merrimac Ferry (Near Baraboo)

Cassville Ferry (short ride from Potosi Brewery)

Ferryville - Wooden Nickel Saloon

Hwy 171 out of Ferryville (awesome road)

Knuckleheads (southern Kettle Moraine)

If you want some routes in the Southern Kettle Moraine area let me know
i haven't been to Potosi for 20 years. When I was young my scout leader's dad had a tree farm and a lead mine we use to camp at. It might be good to go back and see how it's changed.

What at are your favorite routes around the Southern Kettle Moraine area? We have ridden a couple roads around there and it's close enough we could even do some weeknight rides.

Thanks!

I live on the eastern edge of the KM near Pewaukee Lake. So my default loop is to take E, starting at the west end of the lake and ride it all the way south to East Troy. That route has some nice curvy sections (for Wisconsin) and is lightly travelled. I'll gas up at the Kwik Trip in East Troy because they have non-ethanol premium gas which isn't everywhere in SE Wisc. From there I'll run 20 over to La Grange, up H and follow that past Palmyra. It turns into ZZ, which I follow east into the State Forest and then hang a left and run Waterville Rd up to Delafield. The pic in my sig line is on ZZ and N. Took it during an early Fall ride last year. Nothing like smelling the pine trees, the crisp air, and taking in the golden fields. I love all 2 days of it.

There's tons of variations of that by mixing on roads further south like Bluff, N, S, and so on. It's a fun area to ride. Other times I'll head up to Holy Hill which has some nice roads around it as well.

The riding out of Rochester, toward Alpine Valley, and up to an around East Troy and back toward Waterford can be interesting, too.

More than several Rustic Roads are in the area. All of 'em are fun to ride.

And the state wide map.......

I live close to R10 and ride it often. Sometimes "Rustic" means not maintained.

Yes, watch for gravel. Pay attention to curve warning signs. I once went into a 25mph curve, because I was tired, and spaced on a sign. There was gravel in the curve, I had to ride it out on the shoulder at 55. Came close to a 40 foot drop into a ravine. That would have hurt.

I ended up mapping all of the rustic roads a few years ago. Not the greatest quality as I only used the line function in My Maps to create them. But here they are!
