I'll be there at least 1 day.Probably more like 2 or more.I live about 45 minutes from Roeder Sandusky Harley.I drive Lake rd. from Cleveland. It is a very nice ride along Lake Erie.
I havent been there before but am planning to go there this year instead of Myrtle Beach, being as myrtle passed all the new anti biker laws, Is there much going on up there a group of us were planning to go all week, and spend our time betweeen the bike festivities, and put in bay and what not.

Indeed it is. If you end up going during the week (my days off are wed/thurs) we should hook up.
Most of the heavy biker traffic takes place from Thur-Sat when downtown Sandusky is blocked off and full of vendors. It's a real good time. If I were going up the whole week I would spend Mon Tue & Wed at Kelly's Island, Put-in-bay, Port Clinton, Cedar Point etc. then go to Sandusky. JMO
I see this is kind of an older thread, but i'm thinking ohio bike week, and wonder if those who've been can give some more info. I've done sturgis, daytona, key west and had a blast each time.
I'm going on a limited budget, so thought i'd just pitch my tent at the abate campground at the fairgrounds. Supposed to be bars and bands set up there, so less drinking and riding. Not the cheapest at $ 25 - 30 a night for a basic campsite but its right in the thick of things? I just got back from the easyriders show in columbus and saw jimmie vanzants band there. Awesome show ! He's playing at ohio bike week too.
Anyhow anyone care to add some info? Best bar? Best BBQ? Best place to see bands?
Pay the price to go out to Put in bay??
Help me out guys.
Cheers !
Ohio Bike Week is a good time. Like I stated in a previous post It's kinda slow during the week though. If your coming for the whole week your going to need to take some of those slow days during the week and plan on going to Cedar Point, Kelly's Island and Put-in-Bay. The islands are a blast. Be prepared to Party because it's like Mardi Gras up there. Put-in-Bay is a bit of a younger/rowdier crowd and Kelly's tends to be a bit older and laid back. There are numerous Ferry services to get you there so decide whether you want to take the bike or not. Personally I would leave the bike on the mainland if your planning on partying. There are scooters, golf carts, segways, and bicycles to rent if you want to do some sightseeing. There are campgrounds at the islands as welll and they are pretty reasonable. A hotel stay will probably set you back 200 per night.
Back on the mainland make sure you drive along the lake Erie shoreline to the west for some great sightsseing around Marblehead, Catawba and Port Clinton. As far as Sandusky goes there's always something going on at Roeder's HD and the bar next door called Shifters with an outdoor stage and patio. Dowwntown has a few nice pubs but things don't get rolling until Thursday when the vendors all relocate downtown and they barricade the streets and there is live music playing all day and night. Hope this helps. PM me if you have any further questions.

Thanks Wannabuy, great info and much appreciated. I've been reading that early in the week is pretty quiet, but i'm wondering if their tryin to ramp things up earlier as the vanzant band's playing the fairground on tues night.
I like your idea of leaving the bike on the mainland and hitting the islands for some partying. Sounds a bit like key west, which i've had a blast at a couple of times. I bet the ferry ride is more reasonable without a vehicle. Maybe just go over to the island for a day and evening. I"ll have to look into the times and rates.
Maybe a trip down state route 60 to Marietta tues or wed, or like you said marblehead area. Then hit the downtown and such thurs to sat.
Is the fairgrounds where the abate campground's located far from Roeders Harley? Looks pretty close on a map.
