Default Circumnavigate Lake MI

Can anyone recommend any "must sees" or great over nights on this route? Plan to hit Sault St. Marie for sure.

Take the time to do route 22 in the Leelanau area.

Also, check out the overlook at Arcadia.

I live up here in the Sault,(Canadian side), and have spent a lotta time riding in the MI U.P. There is a ton of nice riding there. The ride up thru Paradise to the shipwreck museum is nice, and from there u can check out Tehquamenan Falls,(sp?). LOL, Also another don't miss is a route from Macinaw City down to Petosky which follows the lake shore thru Cross village. Not sure the Hwy #, I'm thinking M-119, but not sure. Get a hold of me if u plan on crossing to the Canadian side and I'll help u out anyway I can....Redd

Yes, hwy 119, a.k.a., the "tunnel of trees" from Cross Village to Harbor Springs is a must do. It hugs a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, which you can catch glimpses of through openings in the tree line.

The Birchwood Inn in Harbor Springs is a cozy little retreat to spend the night, and you've got to eat at Legs Inn in Cross Village! Both are right on 119.

Copper Harbor is a nice ride up there but a bit out of the way for your Lake Michigan tour. I like Munising and the Pictured Rocks National lakeshore on Lake Superior. The harbor at Munising has a glass bottom boat tours that run over some of the shipwrecks in the area that is neat. I've gone diving on some of them and had a good time. Door County out of Green Bay is very nice. Sturgeon Bay is nice. A stop at Lambeau field is a good choice to tour the Packer's hall of fame and Lambeau field if you like football. if you are there in late July or August you may be able to catch a Packer's practice session. If you want to skip going through Chicago you may want to consider crossing the lake on the Badger Car ferry which runs from Manitowoc to Ludington, MI. It's a 4 hour cruise that is very nice if the weather is good. There are lots of indoor seating areas onboard if the weather happens to be crappy.
