Jay has said they will be offering sidecars that are not painted yet for the owner to finish. What DMC normally does is build a sidecar once ordered. That makes for a long wait. This new approach will help keep shop busy and allow new owners to get into a sidecra faster and at a lower cost. By no means in this case dopes lower cost meant cheap stuff.

Have had this sidecar for about six months now. Wife loves it more than I. I us my Crossbones to push the car. Can remove in 10 minutes. Sidecar is from Trans-Moto.

They all look great. Sidecar is not for everyone . But if the need is there they can be wonderful when done right. Wife and two 11 year old grand children checking the Dragon off their bucket list. 11 days riding the smoky Mountains and NC. With wheel chair tucked behind the seat.

I’m installing a Trans Moto on my 76 Electra Glide now, in the process, as I need it to continue riding. I’m in Alberta and bought my sidehack in NS from a guy who had it on a 86 ultra glide, so I’m now getting the correct installation kit from Trans Moto to fit it on mine. This kit is costing me nearly $800.00 and I’m hoping the install goes well.

If you are new to sidecars, find somebody local that can help you set it up properly. They need to have the proper amount of lean and toe in to work well, otherwise they are a handful on the road. Also often you need to install a different fork tree to change the fork angle if you aren't going to a leading link front end. A lot will depend on how & where you plan on riding it.

I've had one sidecar rig on a BMW and they are fun, but there is a learning curve to figure out how to drive them. You have to unlearn some 2 wheel habits and if you are new to these rigs, take your time and don't take anybody with you until you get it figured out. You will also need to add some ballast in the sidecar.

Not sure where you live in Alberta, but I live in Lethbridge if I can be of any help.

Thanks cycleman, I’m living at Athabasca. Not a lot of service available here regarding hacks, or bikes in general as it’s a smaller populated area.

Good luck with your rig. Things like location of the sidecar wheel in relation to the bikes rear wheel are also important. Seeing as you are not installing a HD sidecar on the bike you are going to have to adapt some stuff. Strong mounts between the bike and the car are also critical. A lot of the universal clamp type stuff just won't cut it.

There are some good sources on the web for setting up sidecars and they don't have to be Harley related as the importance of lean & toe in is the same for all of them. Actually one of the better ones that I ever found was with a sidecar mounted on a dual purpose bike like a KLR. very good description of the process.

Good luck with the project. With good mounts it goes much easier.
Make dam sure your bike can't fall over while attaching it. Take your time .
Get the wheel stagger where you want first. Work on front and rear lowers then uppers for lean angle.
Make adjustment little at a time.

On the way home now from a 3,000 mile trip with out Twin Classic.

I’d like to see your mounting kit for this car as I’m installing a Trans- Moto on mine and just waiting for the correct mounting kit from the company. I’d like to see anything about your installation process. That’s a good looking setup you have there.
