I purchased a1999 Buell M2 Cyclone that had a engine transplant but I’m having trouble identifying the engine other than a 1200 “X”.
Engine case # KS11W300196. Any help identifying this engine appreciated, ( I can’t seem to be able to identify on the internet for some unexplained reason!) Cheers
With Buell the model year for the engine could be off 1 year . Need full vin to get more information.
The number you gave appears to be a Buell number.
KS means it is an M2 Cyclone The 11 means it is a world model Horse power code makes no sense

Could those be II and not ones?[/QUOTE]
No they did not use an II in that section. The bike would have been one of 2 options a 11 world model or a 56 for CA model.
First ditgit would be country 4 means US
second 2 letters make MZ is Buell
3rd 2 letter KS means M2 cyclone
4 would be two numbers for engine type 11 is 49 states 56 would be CA
5 single letter Horse power code likely an H
6th 0-9 or an X just a VIN check
ECT.

BTW I am referring to the number stamped on the engine case not the frame. Someone transplanted an engine into this Buell and I’m trying to find out the specs on the motor only
As it turns out I have a 1999 Burell M2 California frame
with a 1998 49 state engine.
The 1999 has a horsepower code of “J”
while the 1998 engine has a horsepower code of “W”. Wondering if the non- California engine breaths better hence the reason for the swap
or if some other rational existed??

CA has had some EPA rules even back then that held the engines back.
