Hacked, Conversions and Trailering"Harley Sidecar, Conversion Trikes and Motorcycle Pull Behind Trailering Enthusiasts"
A forum for the discussion of your sidecar, Conversion Trike or Pull Behind Motorcycle Trailer.
I posted this in another forum, but would like to get general feedback here, as well. I plan on getting a Softail for just me to ride. I have read many threads on the topic, but would appreciate direct feedback. Appreciate your help.
"OK trike owners, like to ask for input. It's time for me to go trike so I can ride with my wife. I'm starting with my custom painted vintage.
I've narrowed it down to either hannigan or CSC. I like the looks of the csc a little more, but can't use my backrest/sissy bar with their kit and would have to get a trunk. Which just adds to the cost.
The hannigan kit can accommodate my oem sissy bar. Both kits are high quality. For those that have looked at these kits, what is the difference in the way they implement their independent suspension? Is one of their reverse systems better than the other? Are there differences in their rear shocks? Any other differences I should be aware of? Paint quality?
I have a local shop that has a lot of experience with both kits, and I'm even thinking of going to hannigan to have them install. I know I will likely be happy with either kit. Just want to hear from others. Appreciate any input or advice."
Up front . I have done business with Hannigan for years. Sidecars is my thing. Hannigan is always light years ahead of the rest. Wife said lets get a trike.
We demoed a 2024 TriGlide. Did not ride well, did not corner that great. Decided to have my 2020 RGL converted and then pick up another bike for the big sidecar.
Hannigan won out. Bike is in being triked now. Hannigan rides far better handles better than any trike on the market. It is not just better shocks . The entire design is different.
Reverse IMO only 1 option The mechanical ones regardless of the brand. One and done. Them silly electric ones are junk. The reverse on my RGL has been on two rigs and never an issue. Some brands fit clearance wise depending on the build.
A visit to Hannigan is a worth while education.
Another option to look into is Kool Trikes. They are top of the line.

Have you ever been to Hannigan in Murray KY? If you are riding there staying over night and leaving. Best Western in Murray offers a reduce rate for people going to Hannigan. Just call around midday and talk with the manager. Older place but good shape. Just stayed there again Monday.

Can"t go wrong with either. I have a CSC kit on my 2009 Ultra since 2017. Champion mechanical reverse is the best, have had one since 2010. 161,000 miles on bike. PM me if any questions.

I would call Randy at Cut-n-Shoot Customs and pick his brain on which of the two he has more happy Customers with.
