I've got an 01 Road Glide. I also enjoy mountain biking. I need to come up with a way to carry the bicycle on my scoot. I thought of getting a hitch from the H-D shop, and fabbing from there. Anyone have any ideas of their own? I have seen some crude examples in the WWW, but they're fugly and cumbersome. 'Preciate your replies.
I am goona have alooksee at the mc hitch idea... thats what I was thinking, but H-D didn't make a hitch with a receiver. Once I havea receiver, then I could hook a mtn bike rack to the back. Thanks yall.
I just installed MC Hitch on my 99 Ultra. Installed eaisly and works great. I wanted a reciever type also. Handy cooler spot. I have seen a couple of times guys hauling bikes on back of MC, No way around messy looking. Bicycle too messay and spread out to keep it neat. Goo luck. Oh, The one I did notice had a second mount come out under the tour pack. Rear wheel rested in a tray in the hitch and the center frame hooked to the tourpack bar.
Thought crossed my mind while thinking about the hitch to carry a bike rack....
*When atrailer is being towedthe weight is transferred to the wheels of the trailer, there by sharing some of the load. What is the chance that between the vibration and the road bounce that the load of the bike and bike rack combined would slowly tweak or redireck the metal of the motorcycle? The weight and the constant vibrations and road condition is carried soley by the hitch and its connection on the motorcycle?
