Default Revised Back Rest

I have the Mustang Back Rest on my trike. It's nice to have something to lean against. But it just wasn't good enough for my taste. So I decide to make a better shaped back rest. In one of my shops. I had this old office chair.

I removed the back rest part and disassembled it. Fortunately I have a shrinker / stretcher tool here which helped me to add a curvature to the back rest. I made it fit my back as seen in the pictures below.

Though it's longer than the Mustang Back Rest. When I added to the curvature. It basically stayed the same length when viewed from over head.

When cornering on the trike. This will give me something to lean against while in a turn. I'll recover it like the OEM one and secure it to the existing Mustang mounting bracket.

Update:
Tomorrow Ill add pictures. I did however finish the revised back rest. And I must say. It's fantastic! Works just the way I hoped it would. Keeps me planted in my seat on turns and something to lean against too. Feels snug around my back. Makes me feel more as part of my ride. Than just sitting on it. It's beyond comparison of the typical flat padded back rest.

Here's the pictures of the new back rest I made for my trike. Turned out pretty good considering I'm not an upholsterer.

I used the mustang back rest mounting bracket and attached it to the new back rest.

Like I mentioned before. With the back rest curved to fit my back. The ride makes you feel like your part of the machine and not just leaning back on a flat padded rest. Very comfortable!

You should build and sell those.

I totally agree but wouldn't you run into copyright issues when you start using a similar backrest adapter to fit the backrest into the seat manufacturers mount? RJ, I think you mentioned this before.

No, not necessarily. the back rest is from an office chair. That original patent is way over expired. You can't re-patent it. It's known as old art work. As for the hardware that's holding my back rest on. Im just planning for now to make assorted bolt patterns on the back side. So a rider can change out their back rest to fit whatever style mount is holding it on there. As for me making these for others. Yes, that's already in the works.
