hello from a newbie
Few things I noticed is that the mirrors actually have the same view as my car mirrors offer. Where can I get wider mirrors that offer better rear view.
Also, I am looking for back support for passenger seat, or something that passenger can hold on to.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forum! This is my fourth year riding a Street 750. It's been a great little bike for the way I ride it.
You may want to check out www.hdstreetforums.com which is entirely dedicated to the Street family of bikes. As a whole, it's more active than this subforum.
The Mirrors SUCK!!!
Yea, the mirrors are the first big gripe that everybody has. Your H-D dealer can sell you the bar end mirrors from the Street Rod. They require cutting holes in the ends of your grips or buying Street Rod grips works as well. Your dealer can also sell you the long stem version of the stock mirrors, or several tear drop style mirrors. All of those options move the mirrors out towards the bar ends.
Aftermarket mirrors are available as well. Any aftermarket bar end mirror that fits 7/8" bars will work. There are also a number of mirrors from Kuryakyn and others that have long stems, elongated heads, or other shapes that will help.
The most popular and cost effective solution is the Krator mirror extension available on eBay, Amazon, and other sites. These have a 2" arm that mounts in your mirror mount and a hole to mount your mirror on the far end. These move the stock mirror 2" out, and depending on how you position the arm, can raise the mirror 1".
Drag Specialties sells a mirror extender which is just a straight extension to the mirror mount. They get you a couple inches of height, which changes the view to your shoulder instead of your elbow. If you dip your shoulder they work, but aren't great. Both of mine broke in the first summer of riding with them.
Backrest
I strongly disagree with FXRjunkie's assessment that there are many options for sissy bars, grab rails, and luggage racks for this model. Basically you've got the H-D solution, the Chinese knock offs of the H-D solution, and a very few solutions that mimic the side plates and sissy bar solution you see on larger bikes.
H-D sells an expensive, detachable package rack that requires their docking hardware in the rear fender for installation. The sissy bar bolts into the rack. The parts cost around $350 US.
There are knock offs of the H-D package rack available on Amazon and eBay, often for less than $200 for the complete rack, sissy bar and pad. Some use the H-D docking kit and some just bolt directly to the fender bracket. Some have the mounting holes to use the H-D sissy bars and others don't. The knock off I bought from TCMT wouldn't accept the H-D sissy bar and had such a twist that there was no getting it mounted to the bike. Other people have had better luck.
There are several aftermarket sissy bars available on Amazon and eBay that mount directly to the bike, or at least the docking hardware, without the $200 US package rack. These seem to be the taller sissy bars, but that's a relative term as the H-D sissy bar is quite small. Most of these sissy bars and the knock offs of the H-D package rack come from individual fabricating shops in southern Asia. Since 2/3 of these bikes were sold in that part of the world it makes sense that more aftermarket parts come from there than the United States.
