Used to go to Rondo music for strings & crap when I was living in Roselle Park & playing around the area; also went to Bowcraft with the GF at the time, and that diner--I forget the name, but it was in the middle island between the E & W bound lanes, in Union.
Farcher's grove gone???? dang good (cheap) food and beer.
First "fast food" place I ever went to... GINO'S in Hillside..... ahhhh "Evergreen Lodge"....and all the places of my wild youth... "Tico Taco"... Flagship...... gone.... makes me wonder if I was there??? or was it a dream?
who can forget "Dennison clothes".... cruisin to "cousin Brucie".... "Murray the K", Don Imus in the morning (when he was young, and funny)
edited to add:
Oh well... RUTT'S HUT, is still serving dogs, and even Jimmy Buffs, is still in business.... albeit in the suburbs....
Forgot about Farcher's Grove. I used to play there about 20 years ago.
I remember the Dennison clothier commercial back in the day, on 77WABC. Weren't they the ones that started the expression "Money talks;nobody walks"? (or something similar)
I know it's a little bit off 22, but anyone remember Galloping Hill Inn & the footlongs they sold there? Mimi's Italian Ices? Angie & Mims?
My brother just told me Mr. Bees in Somerville is gone now too. I can remember going there for Bee-Burgers as a kid. Damn shame what it's all turning into. My small hometown of Manville has been turned over too. No reason to go back anymore.
