Hey guys,
I just got my bike together and was able to take it on a couple shakedown rides. The first one about 10 miles went just fine bike felt and sounded good. The next day I went on a 100 mile round trip ride and about half way through the ride I lost the air cover screw and the cover slipped off the back plate. When that happen I got allot of popping on decel and the bike died when I idled to stop. It fired back up and I rode to a hardware store to replace the screw thinking it just got a big gulp of air. However, after that the bike seemed to get worse. It died again at idle several times and more popping on decel. I got it home and checked trouble codes, the only thing showing was P0134 and P0154 Both indicating that the 02 sensors arent connected, which is correct because of the closed loop system. However, should it be throwing a trouble code for this? The bike also seemed to drink allot of gas around 2 gallons for a 50 mile return trip. The tuner is a fuelmoto EFI Tuner with a tune sent after I emailed them my specifics. Do you have any suggestions or think my fuel map needs tweaking? Just so you know I am on a 07 Street Bob with Screaming eagle 255 cams, Vance and Hines big Radius 2 into 1 pipes, DK customs HiFlow 587 Air Cleaner System.
Thanks
Do you have the o2 eliminators plugged into your o2 harness? If not then that's why you are getting the code. Sounds like you're in need of a tune. Just because he sent you a MAP for your set up doesn't mean it's the right one for your bike. I can do a custom tune on two identically built bikes and end up with 2 differn't MAPs. I would have to assume that the Fuel Moto supplied MAPs are a bit on the rich side because that would be a safer bet than sending you a MAP that is to lean. I'd plan on getting it properly tuned and not run a "canned" MAP in it.
I dont have the o2 eliminators plugged in just the unplugged the O2 sensor from the harness. Sounds like I need those. My bike was running pretty good and then mid way through the ride it all went south. Assuming my fuel map is in the ballpark, wht would have made that change occur?
Cam off a tooth, but it would've ran poorly from the beginning. Sumping could be an issue if you didn't get an oil pump "o" ring in correctly or if one is cut. You dill definitely need the eliminators to get the codes to go away
I did the cam swap myself and double and triple checked everything in the cam chest. Not to say it couldn't be sumping or bad o ring. I just would like to rule out all other options before I get back in there. Thanks for the replies and please keep the ideas coming.
I'm going to see if cleaning the IAC and then possibly replacing IAC stepper motor resolves issue. Seems to be a common issue related to 07 96 inch motors. I'll keep you all posted.
