I use a battery tender on my bike when ever it is parked in my garage. My question is why does the battery tender always show "charging" when I plug it in even after long rides? I have checked the charging at the battery while the bike is running "14.25"
The tender will show charging for approx 1 hour then switch to storage mode.
My tender will show green lamp flashing for awhile, under 15 minutes, then go steady green if I hook it up after a ride.Battery age and condition have a lot to do with it holding and accepting a charge.
GTK, thanks for the reply.....this is a Dyna that I built over the winter.....new bat, new stator, new volt reg, new tender...I am going to monitor it closely and see if the battery may not be holding the charge. Thanks,
As I understand it the Battery Tender will always go through its 3 or 4 cycles of charging when you first connect it. I have always used them on my bikes when they are in the garage - as soon as I get home the charger gets plugged in. Even when I have been on the highway for miles and get home and connect it it goes through the flashing stage before going to steady green. I belive this is totally normal.
