Default Old ride for an old Geezer

Have turned to this forum previously and found answers to questions.
A very informative site and I thank everyone who shares their knowledge.
I have a question about my 2002
FLHRSE. It had set for 12 years when I had bought it and I have been riding
It for two years. It has the Screaming Eagle 95 CI engine.
Turns out the head gasket dried up and it began leaking
Oil. The dealer was going to replace the head gasket but it turns out
The Pistons were scored. So, they ordered 95ci replacement cams and Pistons in a kit to fix the bike.
My question is, does the bike need tuning or re-mapping or any fuel manage r system once they get the work done??
Thank you.

It depends on what was done before. You state the bike is a 95" engine, it could be a simple 95" stage 1 with the stock cams. Or it could be a 95" stage 2 with the SE203 cams, or maybe the 204 cam. If the top end is the only issue, why is the dealer replacing cams? Depending on the difference between the cams that were in the bike and the cams the dealer installs, is whether it needs re-tuned or not.

Thank you for responding msocko3. I am pretty sure they are replacing with the same cams that it comes with. They said they needed replacing also. I am going to double check with them though. Thanks again!

At the time your bike was made most Harleys with the twincam engine were 88", but converting them to 95" was common and still is. Your bike came stock as 95" and if the dealer is replacing your CVO cams and pistons with the correct stock SE parts it shouldn't need any tuning. If on the other hand you have aftermarket air filter, exhaust and/or cams, then yes it will. Best talk to your dealer, so you and they understand what you are going to get when they have finished!

Your bike came from the factory with 95" engine and 203 cams. It will be a direct replacement - no mapping necessary.
