Hi all, i recently bought a 2006 roadking and the bike only has 2,800 miles on it, it has for upgrades, a screamin eagle 6 speed trans, 95 ci kit, high flow air cleaner and vance & hines oval exhaust, and a race tuner, the dealer told me the guy never gave them the race tuner for the bike, so my question is, if i want to put a pcIII on my bike will i have to have the computer returned to stock, thanks for any help guys.
I suspect what they mean is that the previous owner had the SERT and had the bike tuned and it has a custom calibration loaded into the ECM. But it sound like the previous owner did not include the SERT with the bike. You should see if you can contact the previous owner somehow and get it. The SERT is no good for use on any other bike so their is no reason he should not be willing to at least give you the "dongle". You can always buy the latest software CD and cable if he does not want to give you that.
If the bike is running good the only reason you would need the SERT is if you make any changes. I am not a fan of "piggy back" solutions like the PCIII so if you do need to do some tuning I would go with something like the SERT or the Thundermax with Autotune. JMHO...
