Help, starting problems
I just recently replaced the battery and sometimes it'll start right up and others (75%) of the time I have to jump it. I'm no mechanic but I assume there's a short somewhere (if so I could use some tips on how to locate the source, I have a voltmeter as in I do HVAC, but when it comes to mechanics I am ignorant). Or could it be an alternator/solenoid problem? any suggestions are greatly appreciated. It's a 91 softail chopper

A loose/dirty ground connection can cause intermittent problems.
Check the standing voltage across the battery terminals, and then check it while trying to start it.
Test the charging system.
