I just picked up a 2012 Switchback with a K&N filter and Vance and Hines exhaust. It idles between 1200 and 1300 rpms? This is my first HD and I don't want to mess anything up, I was told that the idle is high from the fuel injection but that seems awfully high? I want that famous Harley lope. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Does the idle always run virtually the same rpm stone cold right through scorching hot?
Definitly not supposed to idle over 1000 when warm. Some run up as high as 1500 for a couple seconds and start coming down right after that and settle into a 1000 rpms witching 15-30 seconds, depending how cold the start was.
Hot restart may flair the rpms up a bit at first start but come right back down within seconds.
If this is not you experience you have a problem for sure. Some people end up selling their bike because there’s something wrong with it and the shops haven’t been able fix it so they sell/trade it to get way from the problem.
A good shop will be able to diagnose and fix the issue promptly, which is what is needed IMO.
