Simple question: do I need a tuner?
2017 Iron 883. Not sure if I'll keep it forever so not getting too deep into mods yet. Gonna put some python 2.5 slip ons and a simple K&N element on it(maybe a Arlen ness big sucker)...
So, do I need to drop the $$ for a tuner? Is it totally necessary?

It all depends on your definition of the word "need."
If you tune it, will it run better than if you don't tune it?
Yes.
If you don't tune it, will it run worse than if you tuned it? Yes.
In fact, if you change BOTH the air cleaner and the slipons, and you don't tune it, it will probably run worse than if you left it stock.
Here's the bottom line for me: If I spent the money for a new air cleaner and new slipons, and I didn't tune it, then I just pissed away the money for the upgrades.
I'd tune it.
