Hello All, I'm new and need some help. I have a 97 FLHR SS Carb ev27 cam, screaming eagle heads and screaming eagle module 6000rpm, Everything been working great until recently , I went on a ride and when bike hits 4000 rpm it acts like the rev limiter is kicking in. I can hammer it or slowly bring up to 4000 and it drops other than that runs perfect no miss, idles perfect etc...... just when it hit 4000 Could it be a failing module?? Coil?? oh the spark plugs are perfect so no signs of rich or lean conditions. please help. Thanks BTW: I do have a tach....
Does it totally shut off as - in no fire and come back immediately or soon under 4000 or just won't rev any higher?
Generally when a module fails, they might act up a bit just before they die, but when they die that's it. The rev limiter only drops the timing advance back to TDC, that is, no advance at all, which effectively makes it impossible to gain rpms. They don't cut the spark off.

It acts exactly like I was redlining at 6k no power and a little missing I let off its back to normal..... this happens if I matt it or come up to 4000 slowly
Never saw or heard of one doing that, but I "ain't see it all." From your description, that basically rules out a fuel delivery issue.
Sorry I can't be more help but maybe someone else will chime in. Do post back whenever you get it sorted out, so as to help people in the future.
yes thank you I just inspected all hose and wires It all looks new still..... I might just bite the bullet and get a HI-4N Crane This SE module is at least 15-20 years old.....and it better be the problem if I do this......
Id check the easy things first:
- fuel filter
- spark plug cab,es
- points...if it has them...
- can you run with the standard ignition and not the SE module?
