Thank you. All of your assumptions are correct. I have checked all those items except the fuel side of the equation. Oddly enough, on the day I dropped it off at HD, she did not stall . and it hasn't repeated the stalling issue since. I thought it was electrical and still think so but will look at the fuel side .
Thanks for the input. The code for the ckp did come up and I was thinking of replacing it. As you see in my original post I did replace the csp but the problem persisted even after that. I may go ahead and replace the ckp.
Update: This shut-down problem persist. Has even developed into shutting down while running down the road. I'm still convinced this is electrical/electronic because of the way it shuts down, as if I threw the kill switch. I've thrown money at it to no avail. Replaced all but the MAP sensor. Others have fixed by replacing the ckp, or the coil, the cmp, ignition module. Didn't happen here. Happens almost exclusive upon coming to a stop or pulling out from a stop. Where to go from here. Will welcome any help.
You state " as if I threw the kill switch"
If lights stay ON when motor turns OFF then consider re-review of handlebar cables and the kill switch.
A key sign is if all lights stay ON.
Consider turning motorcycle ON and with engine ON then get a rubber mallet and start striking hard surfaces.
If the vibration shuts the bike OFF then you know a loose contact is the likely cause.
You want to introduce sharp, strong vibrations....foot pegs, end of bars, axle
Well, took her for a ride and the engine died while going down the road, again. Not pleasant. Pulled over, turned off, on ignition started right up. Short distance later shuts down again. Same sequence. Made it home as I wasn't that far. Tried the rubber mallet, no joy. Still believe this is electrical because of the sudden shut-down.
Very puzzling. Hard for me to believe this is a carb/gas issue but what is left? Someone has to have seen this before,. Where are you?
Checked the battery cables and grounding points by any chance ? Isn't a carb problem those tend to let you know stupid is coming by running erratic, idle goofiness and coughing long before dying.
I'd start by pulling every plug apart and working them in & out a few times to insure contact on the pins & sockets and looking for wear spots on the harnesses to all the black boxes.
That's where I'm going. Not too optimistic. What is left to check? The only electrical items I haven't replaced are the speed sensor, the bank angle sensor, and the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor. WTF?
