Default Complete power loss while riding...?

I was riding down the road (level with no ruts or bumps), when I noticed the bike start to run rough, then all power went out. I coasted into a parking lot and switched the ignition on/off a few times. Nothing... The Speedo and Tach were stuck in their riding position and hadn't bottomed out. I pulled the main fuse and replaced it. About 10 minutes later, switched ignition on and it ran as if all was fine. The fuel guage reading was off , so I topped off the tank. It returned to normal. This was the second occurrence. of this happening. So , I removed the battery (4 years old but always on a tender) and took it to O'Reilleys where they load tested it. No dead cells were noted. I looked at error codes, and noted a P0523 on the ECM, 62271 Low voltage on the BCM, and U0121, U0141, U0184 on the Speedo... I went ahead and cleared them all and want to see if this has another episode like this. Since I reinstalled the battery, I haven't had a chance to ride it , but switched the power on/off without issues daily. Any one have a similar occurrence ???

i had the same problem with a loose battery terminal and corrosion build up on the battery. also check your ground wire and make sure it's tight to the frame.

I rode it around a few blocks, close to home, no problems noted since I reconnected the battery. I'm going to keep my eye on it for a bit...I was wondering about a faulty sensor ??? Thanks for the responses...

My similar situation was also a loose battery connection. Be sure to actually remove, clean and reinstall both ends of both cables. Don't just look and decide it is clean. Do this and you should be fine.
