Default Lost power while riding

2010 Wide glide

Was riding along when all of the sudden the bike stutteres a moment later lost all power and drifed off the side of the road. I was able to restart the bike and ride another mile and the issue repeated, however I was able to restart while gliding. Shortly after the bike dies again.

At this point I checked all fuses and reseated the relays. With the ignition on, I have lights, if I hit the starter, nothing and the speedo flickers.

Wondering where to begin in the trobleshooting.

The place to begin is to make sure you have a fully charged battery in good working condition.

Fully charge the battery and have it load tested, check and clean all battery cable connections.

Until you do this, you can`t properly troubleshoot an electrical problem.

Check to make sure the ignition switch is free of corrosion and working properly. There is a thread on that somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

I've seen battery terminals crack in half. Be sure to check both ends!

Default 2007 Road King suddenly loses power

I have a 2007 Road King Classic. While on a weekend bike trip a couple of weeks ago my bike would suddenly lose power, speedo would drop to 0. Was able to restart the bike while coasting. This happened about 12 times in probably a 1 hr span. Was able to locate an independent Harley Tech as I was 250 miles from home. He checked everything electrical he could and came to the conclusion it was the Electronic Control Module and replaced it. Road home without any issues. While riding again this weekend the bike shutdown twice on the highway and was able to restart it. Any suggestions on the cause???

I doubt the ECM was at fault. There is a bulletin on the main circuit breaker— someone will chime in with details or the bulletin itself.

I'll do some searching for the main circuit breaker bulletin. Thank you.

This thread is long dead, and the people with the issues never followed up on whether the issues were solved or not...

Start a new thread, give all pertinent details and people will be glad to help.
