Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
I'm currently looking for a new tuner. I have a 2010 wide glide 103 . Just put s&s 583 cams in it python straight pipes with baffles. And screaming eagle big Breather air cleaner . I'm going to be doing alot of auto tuning and more upgrades to come so should it be power vision, p4 or tts or any other suggestions that may help thanks
Power vision is very popular...but with the recent price increase the thundermax has suddenly become a "bargain". If you added a target tune to the power vision it's quite ways beyond the cost of the thundermax. So my vote would be a thundermax if I was in the market right now.
I've logged over 150000 miles on 2 bikes with Tmax. It's by far the easiest to make changes compared to the others. You won't get the fuel mileage of a well tuned flash system tho.. It'll be off a couple MPG.
I assume you are talking about the timing side as well. Easiest changes there as well? How does the knock detection work? Alpha N timing is not the easiest to deal with in general. Let alone how the layout is with the max.

Timing is the hardest part. It's almost the only part.. Get the timing right and the maps provides for AFR work fine. Timing too far off and afrs will screw up..
Don't need knock detection unless you are trying to meet EPA and get the best mileage (which I already mentioned as a weakness).

Carbed HDs don't have knock detection.
Carbed HD's don't have knock detection, but fuel and ignition are based on load. Even as far back as VOES two curved ignition systems. I do appreciate your success with these tuners, but I don't consider you the average home tuner.

Thanks for the kind words. You are correct which is the main reason why the Tmax don't get the mileage. If the OP is going to do 1 build and not change anything drastic, flash the stock module and get it dyno tuned. If it's some guy that like to play around with different setups and don't have a dyno, the Tmax is a good option. IIRC at one time it was claimed that Tmaxs could auto tune. That's not true. Still it does lend itself to quick tuning to get real close to a final tune without using a dyno.. Dynos are definitely nice..
