A few months ago I went to start my bike and it just clicked. I tried jumping the bike and same thing. I just got a new battery got it installed and the bike still won’t start. The fuel pump engages but the starter doesn’t even click. I pulled the codes and they are U0100, U0141H, U0142, U0156 and U0184. I tried clearing them but it won’t clear any codes. I tried unconnecting the battery for 15 min and reconnecting it and nothing. I tried accessing the fuel pak with my phone and it is telling me it isn’t connected to this bike anymore. I’m at a loss please help! When I pull the codes there is no Y or N next to the ECM one. When I go in to see if there is any codes under the ECM option this is what it says. Not sure what the F this is either
It's acting just like a bad battery even though you've changed it for a new one. I suggest disconnecting both ends of both battery cables and cleaning them thoroughly. It might not accomplish anything but it will at least narrow the search. That U0100 code is 'lost comm w ECM' so I guess the next stop would be remove-inspect-refresh the ECM connector, but it may be possible that a poor battery connection could throw this code. Good luck getting it sorted.
All these codes are “Lost communication”
100 with ECM
141 with LHCM (left hand control module)
142 with RHCM
156 with inst 1 (instruments I guess)
184 with radio
So many lost connections I’d be suspecting rodents chewed up some wiring or dead ECM.
here’s what EDM says
The CAN bus is made up of two circuits. The (W/R) is the CAN bus high circuit and the (W/BK) is the CAN bus low circuit.
both of these circuits show around 2.5V when measured between each of these circuits and the ground with IGN ON.
these circuits are connected to each module on the CAN bus network. A fault on either one of these circuits will cause
several modules to set U codes and may cause a complete loss of communication between modules.
I’d pull the seat and start looking at the wiring around ECM.
good luck.
Yeah I missed the 141.. It won't be a dead ECM as the BCM would have to be dead too.. Something like this could be a broken wire at the steering neck or a loose connector where the fairing connects into the main harness.
Yup, when tip is active can’t start the engine, but I’m guessing it’s all part of the same problem - loss of comm with ECM, tip triggered, either connectors or wiring under the seat are the places I’d be looking first.
edited to add: OP changed battery - have to move the ECM out of the way to get there, so connector might got loose. Also from what I’ve read before - “jumping” is a crapshoot.
