1992 flstc shuts down while running
I have a 1992 FLSTC mostly stock with 40,000 miles on it . While riding it will suddenly shut down as if kill switch was activated . When I cycle the ignition switch to off then back to run if I hear a small backfire thru exhaust the bike will start. If no backfire , no start . I replaced the ignition coil . I also replaced the ignition switch with a new Harley metal part . Other than this issue the bike runs great . will greatly appreciate any advice .

Mostly stock.....That doesn`t tell us anything,
Stock carb?
Stock ignition?
It is time to start troubleshooting, instead of throwing expensive parts at it....
When the engine quits, does the starter motor crank the engine when you push the start button?

What if you don't get the small backfire? Are you stuck on the road then? It sounds electrical, not fuel. I'm new to Big Twins. I always had Ironheads from the 70's
I look for fuel, spark, ground, air and timing. Wish I could help. A friend with a big twin had his bike die recently after a couple big backfires. It was the coil. Maybe the run/kill switch? I don't know. I'm guessing a 92 does have a CDI box. That may be it too.

In the first post the OP says he replaced the ignition switch.
