I was looking at the ThunderMax site the other day, and they have a kit to replace the Magnetti-Morrelli throttle body with one of their own design. It claims to eliminate the problems with the MM system that made Harley change to the Delphi system.
Has anyone bought that kit and installed it? I have MM on my 01'Ultra and know all about the problems they claim to solve. The kit is pricey at $1459, but it is worth considering if does what they claim and holds up for the long term.
Also, any other thoughts on this kit would be appreciated.
I know this is a new product and given the attention that ThunderMax products are getting, I am wondering if this might be a viable option to cure the problems with the Magnetti-Morelli system I have now.
Does anyone think that system versus the price is worth doing?
How about you Doc? Have you seen one of these installed yet? Do you have any opinions on this product?

I did the MM conversion to Thundermax w/Autotuneand it works GREAT ! Steady idle, no decel popping and smooth operation. Straight forward install for a reasonable mechanic but the Autotune needs bungs welded onto the exhaust. I've been messing with the motor for the past 6 moths going from a 9.3 : 1 95" with ported heads and a Andrews 26G cams to 37G to its current configuration of 98" Revolution cylinders and Mackie 598 cams with 11 : 1 compression and also ported heads and the Thundermax has never had an issue adjusting and running right from the initial startup. Having the Tmax has given me the sack I needed to do this work, if I kept the MM setup, I would have been up the creek trying to tune it not to mention restricted with the MM throttle bodies. I went with the 50mm throttle body over the standard 44mm per Zipper recommendation when we discussed my plans. Its pricey but effective and ultimately, cheaper than trading in !
The Zippers kit is good, but unless you get theirO2 Sensor Based ClosedLoop Auto-Tune system, it's not really worth the effort in my opinion. A less expensive alternative is to convert your M&M Bike over to Delphi. Thayer Sales : http://vtwinfuelinjection.com/index.htmhas a whole kit that does that, and it's not as expensive as going the Zippers route. I have a Thayer FI Conversion Sub-Harness and coil for sale if you are interested.
Having had all three, OEM M&M, Delphi Converted, and now Zippers with the Auto-Tune closed loop, I have to say the Delphi Conversion was the most cost effective. I'm not knocking Zippers, they make a very good product. But don't get it unless buy theAuto-Tune set up too. Otherwise allyou are really getting is a REALLY, REALLYexpensive Delphi system.
I know this is a super old thread but once you converted over, did you see any difference in power ? Even if you dont have dyno results, what about the butt dyno?
