Default Brake Light Wiring Help Needed...

I'm about to change my tail light out and am having trouble with the wiring.I haven't started anything, just looked at the wiring and can't get my mind around what needs to be done.

The stock light has a red/yellow wire, a black wire, and a blue wire.

The new light has a red wire and a black wire. It also has a seperate ground wire.

I already have the run/turn/brake conversion on the bike and would like to keep that.

How would any of you go about wiring in the new light?

Find out which wire on the stock light is ground.I'm guessing black. You will need a meter.About 20.00 bucks or so.You will need it in the future,so get one.

The hot wire, wire with voltage should be the red/yellow. The blue wire may be a common wire that goes to another blue wire in the harness. Simple huh?

Red is probably your hot, black common, and of course you know the ground wire already on the new light. Now is a really good time to buy the srvice manual for your bike. About 60.00

Good luck. let us know how it works out.

Stock Light
Red/Yellow - Hot
Black - Ground
Blue - Running Light

The new light has the one red and one black lead going to the bulb and the bulb housing has a seperate black ground.

I'm mainly trying to figure out which would be the running light wire on the new light.

Thanks

BTW: I do have the service manual but the new lights wires are not in that one...
