I am currently using a SERT on my bike and have spent some money having it dyno tuned. My guy did a great job with it & im really happy with the performance. Now my question is when i take it in to have the next service is it possible for the dealership to mess with my settings if i dont give them the SERT to plug in? I would hate to have to take it back in and fork out more money to get the settings right again.
The ECM settings should not be changed when you get regular maintenance done but to play it safe, I would mention the SERT tune andtell the dealer not to mess with the ECM.
Ask the tuner for a backup copy of the finished map he used. My tuner will provide one on a memory stick for $12.00. You might be able to get the tuner to burn you aCDof your map. At least, try to get a printout of the table settings from the finished tune. Also, ask the tuner to save your custom map. Many good tuners keep such maps for future reference.
Thanks for your help. My tuner has kept the map on his lap top but i didnt think to ask him for a copy. I will ask the dealer not to mess with them but if they do im sure my tuner will send me a copy. Thanks again.
Without your SERT there is very little the dealer could do... they couldn't mess with your map, they could delete it and replace it with a stock or canned stage I or II map... but I think you'd notice right away. Without your SERT they can't fiddle with your map... Can't imagine them taking the time to do that.
