Default INSTALLING SERT

I just purchased a 2006 Fat Boy (ESPFI) and am looking to save a little cash ($). I am going to install aftermarket exhaust, and SE ST 1 Kit (high flow air filter). Because it is fuel injected I am going with the SERT also. My question is can I install the race tuner my self? I understand that there is a standard map I can down load till the bike is broken in and I can take it to have it dino tuned.

Yes. There is a thread about this from a few months back. Try using the search as it has some good info in it. There may also be a thread in the DIY Forum.

You can install it yourself as long as you have a decent understanding of computers and the mechanics of mapping the ECM. A professional install and a dyno setup would net you more in most cases with a custom map. Here's the manual if you want to take a look at what's involved... https://www.hdforums.com/m_191187/tm.htm

The SERT manual is very complete and fully explains everything you can do with the device. The manual is 126 pages long and the first half explains all aspects of the EFI system. The second half goes into detail about how to use your SERT to log data, analyze the logs, then modify your ECM settings and properly tune your engine. If you are comfortable using a computer and you're not afraid to to tinker with your bike, you shouldn't have any problems. The logging capabilities of the SERT are very good and they'll provide you with tons of data so you can decide what needs to be done. To me, it looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait to order one.
