Default PC III for 08 models

Read through the installation instructions for the now released PC III for 08 models. Bypassing O2 sensors on the closed loop system. Good? Bad? Interested in hearing thoughts on this.

I'm looking to install a fuel management system after break in on my 08. SERT is probably overkill for the basic mods that have (stage 1). Not really planning to go beyond stage 1 except perhaps (big perhaps at this point) true duals.

You might take a look at the VH fuelpak. I know some like it some don't but your going to find that with any question you ask The fuelpak is easy to install and fairly inexpensive. It won't do a whole lot for heat but if your just doing slip on's and A/C it might work for you. You might do a little reading on it.

Good question. It seems like a step backwards to use the o2 eliminators. I am still trying to decide which way to go. My bike is running great 8k mi with just slip ons, I may skip the full stage 1 upgrade (adding the A/C) and leave it alone.

First, using O2-sensor eliminators is not a "step backward," as suggested in one reply. The stock narrow-band, closed-loop EFI runs in closed-loop mode only from idle to about 36% throttle position, and only below about 2850 RPMs. In that range it runs at stoich (14.7:1 A/F), which is considered ideal for water-cooled engines but in air-cooled motors runs very hot. Contrary to popular belief, the stock system in open-loop mode, i.e. when O2-sensor eliminators are used, is very adaptive for changing atmospheric conditions, like humidity, air temp, and barometric pressure. These are sensed by the MAP, head-temp, and air-temp sensors on the engine. The PCIII's open-loop system can be adjusted to fine detail in 225 areas by the tuner and user with a computer for both A/F and ignition advance for each cylinder.

I would recommend at least looking into buying a PCIII, AC, and Rush mufflers with custom baffles from Fuel Moto. Here are some links:

http://fuelmotousa.com/rush_fuelmoto

https://www.hdforums.com/m_2534631/tm.htm

The second link is my install description and a summary of the results. I am not on Fuel Moto's payroll, but appreciate Jamie's work and work ethic. Customer service is second to none, and each PCIII system sold includes a map that was created on an identical bike with identical equipment. If you make changes later you can update your map without extra charge. You can't beat this service, IMO.

If you want near maximum performance for the dollars spent, I don't see how you can beat their new baffle setup. I was the first to install it and it was a winner in every category for me--quieter while retaining the pleasant rumble, yet better-performing than my previous setup (1.75" baffles). One caveat about true duals, they will hurt your low-end. Some claim it isn't noticeable, but low-end TQ will suffer to some degree and that's something I won't sacrifice. The upside to TD's is appearance (subjective), stereo sound (subjective), and the reduction of heat on your right leg (quite objective). The latter point can be addressed by installing saddle shields, available from Kuryakyn, HD, etc.

You mention '08's, but your sig shows an '03. Jamie has maps for both, but keep in mind the custom baffle setup is available only for touring bikes. The baffles also fit the SE mufflers with 3.5" and removable tips, Supertrapp SE, and Wild Pig mufflers--and can be ordered separately without mufflers if you own these or already own Rush slip-ons.

Thanks great response and was exactly the type of stuff I wanted to hear. Yes the 03 is my old scoot. Bought an 08 Ultra (Candy Red Sunglo), haven't reached the break in service yet. Need to take some photos and update my sig

Already have the SPOs and SE a/c on it with the stealer download. That was a waste of money. The bike seems to run fine but I do get a very minor decel pop from time to time when coming off of 3500 to 4000 rpm. I havent ridden it enough yet to notice heat on the right side (my 03 gets hot on the right side on warm days). I do notice heat on the left side which I thought was a bit odd. Haven't decided yet on the TDs, the bike has plentylow end right now and certainly more than the 03 with TC88. Losing a bit of low end wouldn't hurt my feeling too much but it's a wait and see.

I have been leaning towards PC III as I think SERT is probably overkill for my requirements.I have had others tell me to eliminate to O2 sensors right from the get go but I don't want to do anything that will adversely affect the performance, mpg, or longevity of theenigine.

If I do go with PC III it won't be till after first service and from all the good things I have read about Fuelmoto I will likely order it from them.

Get the PCIII from Fuel Moto and you will not be happier. They have them now for the 08's and Jamie has been working with their 08 bike for the past month non-stop testing pipes and building maps.

So because it looks to me like the install of a PCIII on an 08 w/ABS is a PIA I went and checked outwhat my dealer coudl do for me (partly because they have a part/install deal going too) the guy who does the tuning and dyno runs said that he has a couple of units that Dynojet sent him to "test" he said he would put in my bike and make me a custom map for $500. I see that RuelMoto sells this unit for less than the listed price, so I am sure he is going on list price and I am not sure how much labor would cost but like I said aboe it looks to be a pain in the a$$. What do you all think about this price? Also it is for a stock screaming eagle roadking FLHRSE that maybe one day I will put pipes and and air cleaner on.

Hey, just a little info here. I talked to Jonathan at Eastern Performance Cycles (one of our sponsors) today about some little chrome things I needed. He said they have the PClll's for the 08 models in stock, $279.95 free shipping. Sounds like pretty good deal to me. I have no affiliation with this company besides being a satisfied customer.

08King do you have ABS? How was the install? How different is the bike's response, any upgrades pipes a/c ....
I spoke to Jamie yesterday - he is a great guy- no maps for the 110 yet so looks like I will go with the dealer install with dyno to get a custom map.
