If that is the case, then this whole SERT thing is a load of marketing BS intended only to boost revenue. (Golly Aunt Bee, that shore is hard to believe!)
Didn't I say in my first post that it was a "money maker".

I agree that it is high priced but the fact that you can control your bike via software for a more precise tune than turning a few screws isworth something. Keep in mind that the combinations that are delivered via the SERT are for Harley parts only. Customization beyond that is really not part of what the SERT is all about - even though the dealership would be more than happy to dyno it for you with aftermarket parts. However if you have issues with said aftermarket parts with a SERT tune, the mocowill not guarantee any part of the SERT programming since it was not done using genuine stuff.

I thought you explained it well the first time. As far as a "money maker", compared to what, and what's wrong with that?? I'm surprised that HD even offers a custom tuning device such as a SERT for the general public, I'm trying to think of any other vehicle manufacturer that does. I've had to rely on theaftermarket for Ford, GM and everything else for any custom programming abilities at much higher prices then what HD's SERT costs. Often, bang for the buck, I've seen custom programming provide all around better performance gains then many parts costing many times more, yet many complain about the software/tuning cost but not the part's cost, go figure.

I agree. The part is quite expensive relative to what it does. I am sure that has more to do with the R&D for the software development aspect. Especially since they have contracted it to a third party - TTS. I really don't see the difference between the cost of this compared to the other options such as the Powercommander, Fuelpack, Tmax etc. Each one of these options have trade offs or limits that make them unattractive as well as features that make them attractive.

I personally don't have a problem with HD having a tuning tool that you have to pay for. The price is what the market will bear (bare?) and I am sure that most of the companys out there have a marketing department maximizing the price as compared to what we are willing to pay.
