I thought i read a post recently where some one had already installed a PClll with a map, rode the bike and decided to change the map by removing the PC lll from the bike ,hook it up to his computer with the 9 volt, change the map and return it back to the bike plug it back in and ride it...I know that the first time you have to set the throttle position when first installed to make it all work while on the bike. in other words the PClll has to be connected to the bike AND the computer to do that.. So I guess its ok to remap the commander on your computer WITHOUT resetting the throttle position..???...Whaddya think about that..
Once the PCIII has had the TP set for that bike it should be ok....but....like anything else with electronics there is a chance it will have to be done again. It's easy to find out....when you hook it bac kup power it up and look at the TP while idling...is it '0' or not.

I agree with Doc that TP settings should not change when the PCIII is removed from the bike. BTW, you don't need to remove the PCIII to do map changes. Just attach the 9V adapter and you're set. Of course if you can't get the computer close enough to bike you'll need to remove it.
I am guessing you want to do this because you can reach the bike with your PC, and don't have a notebook computer. I have adjusted the map on my PC III USB and did not ever have to touch the throttle position.
nope , no laptop...did the initial set up in my brother in laws livingroom ,hard getting a road king through the front door, dont want to do that again, much easier to remove the PC if that will work ...thanks for the replys...
