I just purchased a power commander III. Is there any tips or suggestions I need when I install the product or what I need to do after it has been installed. I am all new to this. Thanks for all the help in advanced
Spread out your parts and your directions. Read them carefully. It is pretty straight forward. Did you get yours from Fuel Moto pre loaded or Dynojet? If you have to load your map still, download it from Dynojet or FM. Save it to your computer and pull it up in the Comand Center. Install your unit on the bike. Don't forget the O2 eliminators. Plug in the USB cord and connect to your laptop. When you turn on your ignition and run button, don't turn over the bike. You will see the PCIII unit and your ECm cycle. You will see your bikes info and the PCIII info load up on the Ccomand Center software. Hit send map if you have to load your unit. if you don't have acomputer by the bike, you can use the 9V power adapter to atleast get the map loaded to the unit inside on your desktop comp. Then install it on the bike after it's loaded.Otherwise, if your unit already had the map loaded, go on and reset your throttle position. It's in tools I think. If you go to the Dynojet website, they have good tutorials for using all the different aspects of the software. Once you reset your throttle position to 0% and 100% you should be ready to ride. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here that I am sure will chime in with more detailed assistance.
If you got your unit from FM, call them if you have specific questions or are unsure of something. I found them very customer service friendly. Otherwise, post up here with the question and we will try and help.
I'm alomst 100% positive that if you called him and ordered it from him, he preloaded it for you with the correct map. I think he does this for every one he sells. If so, it's a very simple instal. Take your time. It won't take you long. One thing (minor) that I learned...when you connect up to your laptop and you are viewing your map in the CC, take the opporotunity to save it to your computer as your base map. What ever you want to call it, or use the name Jaime gave it. You will want a copy of it on your puter. If you don't save it, it just loads up in the CC and then is gone when you disconnect from the PCIII. It's still in the PCIII but not on your puter. Sounds simple, but I did not know this.
Hook up the unit, install your eliminators, , connect up, turn on ign. reset your throttle %, check to see how the bike runs, disconect, zip tie everything, button up.
Hey...just curious...did you go with the Custom Baffled Rush/PCIII/K&N kit? If not, let us know what pipe and AC setup you are running with this. Let us know if you run into any probs. I put mine on Monday and have not had one hichup whatsoever. I love it. Bike runs great! Nice and strong.
A month ago I had the stage 1 kit installed with the true duals. Just that alone made a big difference. I hope everything goes well. I am one of those that always have that in the back of thier mind, everytime you do something to a bike, is it done right and all. HAs there been any problems with the PCIII that you have heard of. I was told by Jamie that they have a double warranty on them, so I was just wondering.
You hear stories here and there about a "bad batch" or a bunk unit or that they only last about two years....then you hear stories about guys that have had them forever, with not probs and love them. I think the negative gets posted up more often, therefore it falsly seems more prominent. But, you will also see the same situation about every other fuel management system out there, even the TMAT. The only one I have not heard much bad about is the SERT. But I am looking to save some $ and stay away from the dealership dyno, if I can help it. With internal motor work, yes, I'll proly have to step up to the SERT, TMAT, or DTT. But until then, I think the PCIII with a stage 1 setup is a good way to go.
Don't worry too much and post up when you get it.
Edited to add that I am not in any way trying to discount accounts of guys that have had probs with PCIII's or other fuelmanagement systems. Just that posting about negitive issues, giving heads up, seaking help is why this forum is here. Because the bad is posted up too, we are able to learn. But it is only a smallsampling of the total units sold. Not to be generalized about the overall quality or funtionality of all units.
